Fall is quickly moving into the Northeast with cool days and evenings, and I’m enjoying the change.
As I was looking out my window today and reflecting, the leaves were swirling and dancing to the ground. They were letting go so gracefully. I started thinking about my life, and the times I had to release and let go. It was hard, and I didn’t do it as gracefully as the leaves. Even though I know that letting go oftentimes is better for me in the end, sometimes I fight it. Honestly, I don’t know why I resist, but I do. Letting go can be freeing, so why the struggle?
Letting go was our topic of discussion at the last Coffee Connect, and I discovered that I’m not the only one who struggles with it!
Here are some of the reasons we discussed:
- We may not like where we are, but we know what we have and what we can expect
- Guilt: what will others think?
- Doubt: can I really do this?
- Rejection: how will others perceive me?
- Failure: what if it doesn’t work?
- Fear: always stops us
- Control: we like to be in control and giving it up is hard
- Overthinking it: the what ifs?
- Risk of the unknown
- Unknown is always scary
- What area in my life do I start to release?
- Motive: is it something I need to let go of, or am I doing it for someone else?
- Trust: is my faith strong enough?
- Courage: do I have it?
We all agreed the end result can be freedom, opportunity, growth, change, awareness, increased strength, more happiness and joy. We can let go, walk through it and survive.
In the comments section tell us your thoughts on letting go. Is it hard or easy for you?
It’s always hard to let go, no matter how hard I try, but I am making progress. Good topic, Marie. Still waiting for cooler weather here in SC. I am ready for it.
Letting go isn’t easy. Day to day process.
I’m enjoying the cool weather.
Knowing I can’t go back to the same season in life, makes it hard to let go sometimes.
Yes, I agree with you.
Marie this topic is a good one.
I’m not a fan of change
and sometimes I struggle
with fear of the unknown
or wanting to be in control.
But you brought up a good
point. Not all change is bad
some change actually encourages
Personal growth!
Thanks for your insight and
your reflections on this topic.
I look forward to seeing you
at the next coffee connect.
Love you!💕
Sheri
You’re welcome. Thank you for reading the blog.
Yes, I’m looking forward to seeing you at Coffee Connect this month.
I’m trying to focus on each day, sometimes just focusing moment by moment. Time keeps moving, there’s no choice but to be at peace and smile and say today’s gonna be a good day!❤😊🙏
Amen, Karyn. One day at a time.
I need to look on the inside and not on the outside, because I can’t change everything that’s happening in this world. So all I need to do is trust and believe in God.
Yes, I agree with you. Trusting God day by day.
